PLAY IDEAS FOR YETI THEMED SPEECH THERAPY

1. Fun & Games Story
This short-story is about two fiends navigating how to teach the other how to play their favorite games. Yeti finds it difficult to follow the rules of board games. Unicorn struggles to hide during hide-and-seek. They learn there is more than one way to solve a puzzle and so much more along the way.
This story is great for addressing problem-solving, story sequencing and retell, and answering “wh” questions about the text.
These very relatable storylines are perfect parallels for the toys and games within this Speech Cube. Students can read the applicable story segment for each toy included in the Speech Cube and reference the story events as they play.
2. Assemble a Yeti
This 3-D puzzle is perfect for students who love to use their hands and create. The Yeti puzzle comes in an easily portable narrow tube with step-by-step instructions included. This puzzle is great for addressing prepositions, following directions and sequencing. The best part - a toy as the final result!
Assembling this puzzle is also great for addressing core words like, “put”, “on”, “off”, “under”, “all”, “some”, "next”, “help”, “together”, and more.

3. Splat Attack
Arrange your Yettis or Bigfoots & get ready for launch! Students get to send their mud and snow patties flying in an attempt to knock over the opposing creatures. Whoever knocks over all their opponent's pieces wins!
This game is great for basic concepts, such as counting. Have students count their creatures and patties as the pieces are knocked down.
Attach target words to the mud patties & snow patties to incorporate articulation or vocabulary into the game.
This game is also great for turn-taking, addressing core words like, “go”, “fly”, “hit”, “again”, “fall”, “down”, and finding synonyms for actions in the game such as, launch, hurl, fling, or sling for “catapult”.
4. Mini Yetis
These fantastic miniature Yeti figures are perfect for interactive play. Students can use them to help launch their patties in Splat Attack!
We love using miniature characters for creating character profiles. Students can choose their favorite creature, name it, and come up with its character profile by answering "wh" questions about it. For example, "Where does your Yeti live? What does she like to eat? What does she like to do for fun?" This is also a great way to address categorization goals.
If students need an extra challenge, they can create stories about their characters using the information from their character profiles. This will require students to use their recall and sequencing skills and strategies. Students can share the stories they created to address story retell goals.
*Use our language supports included in your cube to assist with these tasks.
